WOULD YOU RATHER NOT FOLLOW THE NEWS?
Many young people find democracy and politics boring, too far away or require knowledge they do not possess. There is a decreasing desire among young people to get involved for fear of negative comments, and many young people are opting out of the established media. They rarely read newspapers and do not watch traditional news broadcasts. They largely get their news and knowledge from social media, where the risk of manipulated and fake news is present. Why is journalism and media important in a democracy? What role does the media play in a democracy? How can you strengthen young people's democratic participation and education?
