In July 2025, Møns Klint became a UNESCO World Heritage Site – as the best place in the world to experience how ice age glaciers shaped the landscape. In other words, Møns Klint contains one of the world's most striking and accessible glaciotectonic complexes.
Hear Denmark's leading ice age researcher Kurt H. Kjær present the latest geological research on the massive forces of ice and the glacial tectonic landscape formation on Møn's Klint.
The lecture presents a new synthesis of more than 175 years of geological research combined with modern LiDAR data and detailed structural mapping. The results show that the cliff and the underlying landscape constitute one coherent, three-dimensional glaciotectonic system formed through multiple glacial thrusts during the Weichselian Ice Age.
