Lussi-gus in the Green Sauna

This day, which we also know as Saint Lucia Day, was in ancient times known as Lussi Day. Lussi is a winter spirit who represents the darkest and most dangerous, and who is part of the retinue that travels through the night in the dark time. Lussi Day is the dangerous threshold of midwinter.
We meet for saunagus and keep warm, but also feel the bite of winter in the icy water and in the dense darkness here close to the winter solstice.

A sauna session consists of 3 rounds in the sauna where we jump into the sea occasionally. The interaction between the cold and the heat resets the nervous system and provides a pleasant calm and well-being in body and mind.

Saunagus is a way to connect both internally to body and mind and externally, to the sea, the sky and each other.
In the rounds we sing songs inspired by both Danish and traditional South and North American sweat ceremonies.
